Cowboys and Culture

Fort Worth is known for its Cowboys and Culture. Do you recognize any of these cowboys or cowgirls?

JFK Legacy Award

FWISD had a special category for History Fair this year. It was the JFK Legacy Project. Since it was the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy's assassination, they decided to create a special project dedicated to JFK. Jacob A., Max, Steven, Henry, and Gunther took on this project. They researched JFK and made a PowerPoint presentation. They were chosen to represent Alice Carlson at the FWISD District History Fair. There, they won first place! Way to go, historians. They are pictured here with our principal, Jeannie Robinson. Their medal is in the trophy case in the main hallway at school.

Log Cabin Village Field Trip

The Log Cabin Village is located on University Drive across from the Zoo. It is a collection of log cabins that existed in the 1800's in North Texas. On our field trip, each cabin had a speaker who talked about what life was like over 100 years ago. They all wore period clothing. The children saw several log cabins that were homes, a one room school house, a blacksmith shop, and a home turned wood shop. They dipped candles which will be sold in the gift shop. Fort Worth is lucky to have such a historical place so children can see how life was different compared to today.

Evan and the Cubes

Evan loves cubes. He made a creative 3D figure with cubes. This was just for fun.

Egg Investigation

We did an egg investigation and learned about the parts of an egg. Then, we cracked real eggs to see if we could find and identify the parts. It was very egg-citing. The children did egg-cellent work! Just yolking.

Secret Santa

The children drew names out of a hat and bought a book for a friend in the class. As you can see, they loved the books they received from their "Secret Santa."

The Nutcracker Ballet at Bass Hall

Every December the third graders get to go to Bass Hall to see The Nutcracker Ballet. We dressed up because when you go to Bass Hall you must dress a little nicer than just regular school clothes. We read the book and saw the ballet!
